The Ainsworth Engagement Party | NYC Wedding Photographer

It was 6:30 on a Saturday night when the call came in from an unknown number. Wil and I were busy in the kitchen, cooking up a feast for the evening and if we hadn't timed the towel hand-off perfectly, I wouldn't have picked up. On the other end was a friend of a friend of a friend whose other friend was getting engaged that evening and friends of the friend of a friend of friend of a friend were throwing the couple a surprise engagement party to celebrate the occasion. And they wanted to know if I could be there to take pictures. Um, hello!

Wil and I housed our meal and geared up to head into the city for what ended up being the very last time I used my Pentax camera for a shoot. It was dark in the restaurant and the on-camera flash was my only option to illuminate the situation, but it didn't matter. Washed out or not, this happy group of friends looked beautiful in the finished product.

Oh, Pentax, you treated me well, but my new camera totally blows you out of the water. If this party had been just one week later...the fun we could've had. Not that we DIDN'T have fun, but...you know what I mean. I'm ready to take my event photography to the next level and I have a fantastic 50th birthday party coming up next month to do just that.

I kind of like the washed out look.
