Back To School

It's official: I'm going back to school! I was initially going to enroll in a certificate program at a nearby college, but changed my mind at the last minute. Instead, I'm taking continuing education classes at 3rd Ward in Brooklyn and I could not be more excited to get started!

The choice to pass over a more formal education was a difficult one, but at the end of the day, I decided that the things I want to do with my skills as a graphic designer and photographer do not require a $23405897235 degree. I already have a college degree and if I decide to become more serious about this hobby down the road, I figure my portfolio will speak for me. If I'm being completely delusional, please let me know, otherwise, I'm going to carry on.

My first class starts today and it's all about PHOTOSHOP! I don't know how intensive it's going to be, but I bought a Wacom tablet just in case. This crash course couldn't have come at a better time considering my go-to photo editing website, Picnik, is closing down shop in April. As long as I walk out of that classroom knowing how to add text to images and to create collages, I think I'll be okay. Okay, here goes nothing...wish me luck!

Goodluck! Making the decision to study as a mature aged student is a great idea I think. You 100% want to be there and are more willing to learn. I wish I didn't much about so much when I was studying graphic design. Can't wait to see your posts about it!

Oh, tell me how it goes! I've always wanted to take a class at 3rd Ward!

I'm sure you'll love it! The great thing about Photoshop is once you've learned how Adobe does things, it's so much easier to learn their other programs like Illustrator and InDesign. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic remembering the thrill of discovery! Have fun :)

That's awesome. And all the posts above our correct. Adobe Photoshop is so powerful. I am a very basic user but once you know about it, you really do understand all the other programs.
