Holiday Party

I don't know if you remember, but a few months ago I was freaking out about having to buy gifts for everyone who helped us pay for the wedding. Well, I took your advice and decided to have a small dinner to show our appreciation instead and I must say, it was a total success! Here are just a few shots from our weekend holiday party...

I'm not going to include the picture of my apartment catching fire because of this bird. True story! |
P.S. Does anyone have any tips on how to shoot in really low-light situations sans flash? I have a 50mm 1.4 lens, but even with my aperture wide open and my ISO jacked all the way up, the pictures weren't that great. Okay, maybe I'm being a little too hard on myself, but seriously...any tips would be greatly appreciated. I want to capture these moments right.

How fun! Love all the fun food.
For low-light pictures, I finally sprung for a Nikon SB-600 flash. It lets you "bounce" the light off the ceiling and the lights look great! You can also tape a piece of index card to the bottom of your on-camera flash to "bounce" the light that way!

This party looks so gorgeous! I especially love the cheese tree, mostly because I love cheese. ;]
