Goodbye, Old Friend

Vidal Sassoon 1875: 2004-2011
This weekend marked the end of an era. My 7-year old Vidal Sassoon blowdryer took a turn for the worst and left this world for the beauty salon in the sky.

I know what you're thinking: What the fuck kind of hairdryer is that anyway?! I've gotten 23984572035 criticisms about it over the years, mainly revolving around the attached brush (What the hell are you supposed to do with THAT?!), but it got the job done.

My mom and I have sworn by this style of blow dryer for over a decade. In fact, when we learned that they were being discontinued (sad face) (and yeah, I received the Vidal Sassoon newsletter), we ran to Wal-Mart and bought four of them. True story! We split the bounty and lived off of its fruit until this weekend.

I have very unruly hair and this little guy seemed to be the only thing that kept in in check. I know some of you readers are a tad bit more fancy than I am in the health and beauty department, so I'm wondering...which blow dryer should I buy to take the place of my fallen friend? I'm probably going to need a brush suggestion, too, since they don't sell them attached anymore. Suggest carefully. The wound is deep and them's some BIG shoes to fill.

I thought you are cutting your hair short? Then you won't need a fancy blow dryer.

I *am* cutting my hair short, but not anytime soon. I need a good hair dryer to tame my mane in the meantime. :-)

I about fell off my chair when I saw this! So we obviously must have the same kind of hair and we swear for the same things. I have been using mine for about 4 years until last week. I cannot do the usual round brush and round blow dryer...impossible and leaves my hair so frizzy that I end up looking like a scarecrow. Your blow dryer and mine really work wonders and they last FOREVER!! They also get the job done super fast. Go to Sally's Beauty Supply (don't know if there is one in NYC but maybe online??) They sell that style there but the brand is Gold Hot and it doesn't only have the brush attachment but the comb (which is the one I use) and another one. I swear by mine :)

I'll get you a new one for Christmas. No worries.
