Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda

I’ve been wedding planning “officially” for almost seven months now and I’ll be honest, there are a lot of things I wish I had done differently.

For starters, I shoulda thought a little more about how difficult our theme would be to carry across both the ceremony and reception. I mean, I think I’m doing a good job keeping the “cheese” factor to a minimum, but still, it’s rough.

I had originally wanted a small, romantic, intimate wedding with lots of texture and soft colors, but it just didn’t work out that way. Our wedding is going to be big and beautiful, but I’m finding so many pretty things online (now that I know where to look) and I’m feeling a slight pang of jealousy. I want them, but it’s too late.

I woulda done that...if I had known better.

If I had a little more time and a little more help in the beginning, I think we coulda had a really cool, classy, vintage-style wedding that wouldn’t have cost us $23458027348597 to pull off. I keep looking at sites like 100 Layer Cake, Style Me Pretty and Rock N' Roll Bride where the WOW wedding posts flow like the River Nile. I could do that…coulda, rather.

I have so many ideas about design, style, letterpress and event planning now that my brain is overflowing (like I need more to think about, right?). I have a knack for it, but lack the technical skill and training to make my ideas come to life. If only I knew Photoshop and Illustrator, hmmm.

I’m super-serious about this blog (if you couldn’t tell) and I am totally committed to making it an Internet sensation, but I need a schtick…everyone has one, you know. I think I’m going to take a couple classes in graphic design and see if maybe I can grow my event planning/photography/letterpress/design interests into something more than JUST interests.

I think I need someone to get married or have a baby so I can try out my skillz. I think planning ANY party other than my own will bring me great joy and satisfaction. The classes will probably start in the fall…any volunteers?

I have planned a few parties for friends and famiy and I have loved it! Its what I know I can be great at, I just haven't had the major time to explore it! So kudos to you for trying it out! I know I have loved it! My friend and I have always kicked around the idea of going to business for ourselves! Good luck in all your future endeavors!

Go for it..Changing careers is not easy but I feel is do-able. As you know that is the boat am on right now.
Oh an on that note.. Would you want to co-plan a 40th Birthday party w/me for January 2012. Here is lil hint:Golf, Boston Red Socks and New England Patriots!

Go for it girl! I think you will do an excellent job. I may want to hire you for my wedding once my boyfriend pops the big question one day LoL!
