Sew Buttons

Functional AND fashionable.
I'm off from work and catching up with some household chores, which today includes sewing. I'm not a big fan of sewing, but everytime I've had to do it over the past couple of years, it makes me smile.

A couple winters ago (yeah, we've been together long enough to be able to say that), Wil lost a button on his favorite pea coat. He was really sad about his loss, devistated even. I was confused and couldn't stand to see him in such distress. I asked him what was the matter.

Him: "I'm just upset that I have to throw out my coat. It was my favorite."
Me: "You don't have to throw it out. I can just sew on a new button, babe."
Him: "You can do that?"
Me: ::blank stare::
Him: "I'm serious, CAN YOU?"
Me: "Give us five minutes alone."

I was a hero that day. You should've seen the smile on his face when he saw his coat come back from the "dead." I love my man. He always has a way to make me smile whether he's here or not.

Oh that poor guy. He thought he had to throw his coat out. That IS a sad story. How cute that you could come to his rescue.

It is definitely a lost art.
