Love, M.A.C.

For five years, I have been involved in a torrid love affair with M.A.C Cosmetics. It all started when I commented on a co-worker's eye shadow (Star Violet). She told me the shade was made by a company called M.A.C (I had never heard of it). Too embarrassed to ask her where I could find M.A.C products, I decided to find them my local pharmacy. I didn't think I had never seen it shelved next to my Maybelline, but I figured it was worth a shot. Yeah, no.

I broke down and asked the clerk if she knew where I could find this unicorn and she looked at me like I had 29387520357 heads. Great. Good thing for Google. The next day, I took a trip out to the King of Prussia Mall to meet my new lover.

Boy, was I overwhelmed when I went in there! I just kinda stood in the doorway for a couple of minutes and took in the scenery. One of the artists finally approached me and asked if I needed any help. My face must have said it all...she just grabbed my hand and led me to an open stool. And she did my face. And I bought $23059872308 worth of M.A.C stuff.

Here's the best analogy I can draw between pharmacy make-up and M.A.C: Imagine your bed sheets at home...warm, soft, cozy, comfortable. There's no place else you'd rather be at this very moment, right? Now, think back to the first time you slept away from home on 1500-thread count Egyptian Cotton sheets at a fancy hotel. Yeah, it's like that; there's just no comparison. Once you feel it on your skin, you want to keep it there for-ev-er.

Okay, yes, it's a little more expensive, but it's TOTALLY worth the cost. It's an investment, really. Your face is typically the first thing anyone sees, so why not put a little money into it, right? That's the way I look at it...and how I justify spending about $30 a month on my collection's upkeep.

Since I started working in Manhattan and have had to get up at stupid o'clock every morning, I haven't been able to fix my face the way that I would like. My daily routine has been reduced to applying a smudge of Teddy eye kohl, a thin coat of False Black false lashes mascara and hurried Spiked eye brows, all M.A.C. Pitiful, considering how dedicated I've been to leaving the house in full-makeup for the past couple of years.

Once the weekend comes, I'm quick to pull out my pouch and play with my pigments. I'm telling you, people...once you go M.A.C, you never go back. Do yourself a favor, find your nearest M.A.C retailer and see for yourself. Spend a couple of minutes with one of their stylists and play with their products. Spend the money! It's totally worth it and you won't be disappointed, I promise! Makeup is the one thing I splurge on for myself and I never feel guilty about it! Look Good = Feel Good. For future reference, if you ever see a picture of me on here and want a breakdown of my face, just ask.

I think MAC eye shadow colors are great but to be honest, I have tried them many times . . . gone to the counters, got all done up and have found myself in a bad breakout situation. I will stick with the eyeshadows and lip glosses but for me, foundation, bronzer, etc etc. is just a recipe for disaster on my face.

Mel, do you think that it could be that the applicator brushes are used on many people? I have stupid sensitive skin and have never had a problem with the foundation when I apply it with my own brushes at home.

MAC is one of the products I use because they are a cruelty-free company. That is a complete MUST for me.
