Reading Is Fundamental

I'm hooked on books. Period. I'd like to say that I've been this way my whole life, but no. I had pretty much stopped reading from eighth grade until I started working in New York City a couple years ago. Pretty impressive considering that I had to get through high school, undergrad and eighty percent of graduate school without reading a single book from cover to cover, but that's a blog of a different color.

Nowadays, I read 1 or 2 books a week! I consume almost any literature that's tossed in my direction. Lately, I've been reading all the classics I was supposed to read in my youth. Catcher in the Rye, Slaughterhouse-Five and Alas, Babylon, among others, have finally had their spines creased (yeah, I just moved them around with me unread for all these years). It's safe to say that I've devoured close to 80 books over the past 24 months and with that, I've gotten through my entire home library.

So, Blogger, tell me...what are some books that I absolutely need to read?!

Anything at all by Edith Wharton but especially Age of Innocence.

Count of Monte Cristo (it's long but interesting)

Little Women (hilarious gender roles but has good lessons about the importance of family)
