Pretty In Pink

I never used to like getting my nails done. My nails have always been thin, brittle, flaky and would break as soon as they grew past my fingertips. It seemed pointless to put polish on my fingers because it would just chip off 0.3495872305 seconds after I'd leave the salon. That all changed for me last year.

I am blessed to have an hour and a half long lunch break.  Yes, you heard me correctly: ONE HOUR AND THIRTY MINUTES. I have 90-minutes to myself in the middle of my work day and I LOVE it! At first, I would go to the diner around the corner from the job and sit with a book. Then I started going to the Starbucks around the corner from the job and (wait for it...) would sit with a book. Pretty soon, I realized that I had read every book in Barnes & Noble and needed to find something new to do on my lunch "hour." I noticed that the nail salon around the corner from my job, Naulo Nails, had a DIRT CHEAP manicure/pedicure specials a couple days a week.

Knowing already that my nails were gay, I had the girls put clear polish on them. They looked at me funny, but fixed their faces once I showed them how flexible they were. They told me that "they would get better" if I kept coming in to have my nails done. I laughed, thinking to myself that they just wanted to secure my weekly $23.99 for services rendered, but guess what...they were right!

I don't know if it was the constant stimulation of my cuticles or a simultaneous change in my diet or WHAT, but my nails are GROWING and they're sorta STRONG! Now I'm hooked. I feel so naked if my nails aren't done. I look forward to walking into the salon every week and picking out a new shade of shellac to throw on my digits. It makes me feel so girly and feminine; I have no idea who I even am anymore!

Over the past year, I've grown fond of three Essie nail polish colors: Mademoiselle, Soul Mate and Sugar Daddy. These are on CONSTANT rotation on my fingers and I love each of them equally. Here's my dilemma: Which do I wear on my Big Day?! Pink is classic, but dark would totally be acceptible since we're getting hitched in November, right? HELP!

Love this blog post!! Have you picked out your flowers yet? My first pick would be Soul Mate, because you are marrying yours! However, go with the shade that would look best with your whole wedding color scheme!! :-)

It looks like the flowers are going to be the last big decision we make. I already have three vendors to choose from, but coordinating meeting with the florists has proven to be quite difficult.

I LOVE Soul Mate and have the same gay reasoning behind wearing it as you do, Heidi! The only thing that may stop me is that I wore it for my engagement photo shoot. Hmmm, this is tough. :-/

I like mademoiselle, I never get my nails done but if I did it would be that.

Wait a minute...Sugar Daddy?!?? Definitely. Yes. Seriously, they are all pretty!! Might have to go with what feels right at that time. :-)

You know Mademoiselle might be best because if it does chip, it will be much harder to tell.

Both Mademoiselle and Sugar Daddy are in my personal collections at home, so I love either of them. But the Soul Mate is pretty hot. It's got my vote for your big day.
WHO THE FU@K is going to notice that you had the same polish in your engagement photo shoot??!? No one. And anyone who would notice, and dare to comment about it- is an ASSHOLE.

Thanks for everyone's input! Considering Heidi's rationale, I've decided to wear Mademoiselle. Another big decision, MADE! :-)
